HL-60 Cell Line:
The tumorigenic HL-60 cell line was established using the peripheral blood tissue from a 36-year-old female patient who suffered from acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). This cell line exhibits myeloblastic cell morphology and a promyeloblast cell type. These cells positively express the myc oncogene, and was derived by S.J. Collins, et all. HL-60 have been known to spontaneously differentiate, this can even be stimulated and controlled, to an extent, by a variety of compounds. This cell line is useful as a transfection host in scientific research.
